A Random Tuesday poem: “Never Give in to AI”

Greetings! I haven’t visited here in a bit. While I write almost every day, much of what comes is personal and of little use to anyone; sometimes not even to me! I practice the “Morning Pages” as recommended by Julia Cameron. I have years and reams of accumulated nonsense. But I find the practice grounding, a way to purge and center my days.

Today my partner in love and work, Rosemary, mentioned a study on AI, how it is turning our minds to mush (I paraphrase liberally). Is there some intention here? Is AI a tool to further dumb down and numb out the population?

Here’s my response:

Never Give in to AI

Never give in to AI;
Let it all come from within.

AI is an external manifestation
Of collected thoughts.

But all the crunching
On the collection will
Never produce wisdom.

Wisdom is not analysis or synthesis;
There is an amalgamating Presence
That manifests wisdom.

Call it magic if it needs a name;
Call it Dao if it remains nameless.

AI cannot, and likely will never,
Reach any moment of inspiration:
It does not breathe.

There is no rhythm to it:
Only cycles of bits blinking
In the dark.

There may be intelligence to it,
If assembled (stolen) knowledge
Is so labeled.

But is it thought?
Never give in to AI!
