A midi-week poem to celebrate the book launch: “Heavy Lift”

July 8, 2020 4 comments

Yesterday (July 7, 2020) I was feeling really wiped out; very low energy, tired, weighed down. Maybe it was the weekend full moon and eclipse; maybe it’s the heat and heavy weather, heavy energy; maybe it’s the ongoing pandemic and the disaster that seems unabated here in the US; maybe it is the collapse of everything we thought to be true and dear as we struggle under the weight of not knowing…

I feel better today. And it feels good to have launched the collaborative book I’m a part of (see yesterday’s post). Maybe that’s one weight lifted from my shoulders. And to celebrate this I did return to my poetry journal to ask some questions about this weighty time:

Heavy Lift

Does the Sun feel the Moon’s weight
As He lifts Her above the horizon
To better see Himself in Her mirror?

Is it a heavy lift?

Does God feel Man’s weight
As She lifts Him out of darkness
To better reflect Her image?

Is it a heavy lift?

Evolution is hard work for the gods
Raising Consciousness up a rung
To better realize creation’s Light.

It is a heavy lift!

Ascension is a steep and lonely climb;
It is an inside job for the strong of heart;
Energy runs high in this rarified Love.

It is a heavy lift!

A May Day Poem: Commitment & Surrender

May 1, 2018 2 comments

I am privileged to part of an amazing group of people who meet a couple of Mondays a month to discuss deep thoughts and experiences. I am the guy among four incredible Goddesses. Over the last few months we have used the “The Keys of Enoch” by J.J. Hurtak as our springboard for our discussion. It has been an ever awakening journey beyond the “normal” 3-D elements of life. Our next springboard is “The Cosmic Hologram: In-formation at the Center of Creation” by Jude Currivan. We are interested in penetrating the depths, and heights, of reality in our multi-dimensional Universe so we can be better co-creators of our reality.

This week our discussion concluded with two words that seem almost opposites; their juxtaposition struck me as an excellent jump-point for thought and maybe even a poem. Here’s the result:

Commitment & Surrender

Is this a dance, a rhythm, an ebb
And flow through the music of time?
Do they push and pull one another
Leading, following to the pulse and notes?

Commitment leads, pushes across the floor,
Pulls away from a cluster, creating
Space and steps, new twists and turns
As the ballet evolves in the flow.

Surrender yields to the wishes of the maestro.
The choreographer dictates the journey,
Narrates the story in perfect harmony
As the notes unfold from  the conductor’s baton.

Commitment is the drive, the force
Compelling action, progress, evolution.
Surrender is the acceptance of the propulsion
Ever reaching higher, farther, beyond.

Surrender is the prayer that holds the course.
Commitment is to pray to support the cause.
Commitment is the knowing the cause is just.
Surrender is the trust that the course is God.

PS: If you wish please substitute “Dao” for “God” in the last
line. I debated between the two and decided the poem has a
more western feel.

Relationship Questions, A Tuesday poem for your thoughts

July 25, 2017 Leave a comment

We had dinner last evening with our amazing friends Bob Sima (yes, that Bob Sima of enlightened music fame) and his talented partner Shannon Plummer. Rosemary and Shannon went off to their “Goddess Group” (yes, this blog is most definitely about the Goddess in my life!). Bob and I had a nice long time to catch up and discuss many things, including our relationships with these incredible women/goddesses in our lives.

One of the things I brought up is what we can know in our relationships, especially intimate ones. I had written about this in my Morning Pages a day or so ago. Bob seemed to resonate with my thoughts so I am motivated to offer them here. The poem came out of my thoughts derived from my Pages.

Relationship Questions

Am I committed?
Do I believe she is committed?
Is she committed?
Does she believe I am committed?

Four little relationship questions.
They apply to any intimate partnership.
The answers rest on a shaky platform:
The less than stable human heart-mind.

An individual can answer only
Two of these relationship questions.
There are always two halves to a pair.
Assumptions lead to trouble.

Four yeses lead to bliss,
A committed relationship.
Communications and trust
Are the means that lead to yes.

“Emotions are not decisions. They are the result of decisions. Feel your emotions and ask what decisions have led me to feel this way. When you make new decisions you can feel new emotions. Choose decisions that allow you to feel happy and satisfied. These choices are based on LOVE.”

Happy Summer! I hope you are enjoying this season of warm weather and holiday parades and fun activities.

Warm weather is HOT weather here in Maryland! I give thanks every day for air conditioning. I’ll emerge in the Autumn.

The Full Moon in Capricorn (the Sun is in Cancer) was exact at 6:56 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on Tuesday, July 19. This one was powerful!

Have you been feeling as if everything is being shaken up? Are you questioning where you are headed and with whom? Are you looking to get your message out to the world in a bigger way?

And are world events causing you to feel upset, unsettled, even fearful? Yes, we are being invited to FEEL our emotions and to examine the structures around us. This is a time to evaluate and maybe throw away what doesn’t serve us, as individuals and as a culture.

Here in the U.S. we are in the midst of an extremely divisive political election cycle. Nothing seems to be going according to plan.

And with many of my clients this is happening on a personal level. Money, health, relationship, career issues – everything seems to be coming up in chaos.

Take heart, Dear Ones! All is not lost. You are being asked to do some self-exploration and make decisions about who you are and how you will be operating in the world. You will come out of this chaotic period with a new understanding of what peace and balance inside you means.

The work of this Full Moon is to RELEASE. Those old structures. Limiting beliefs that belong to the old you. Thoughts of what you can’t do based on past experience. Decide to get rid of old energies so that you are ready for something new to arrive with the New Moon on August 2 at 4:44 pm EDT. This also happens to be Richard’s and my birthday so August 2 will be a very special New Moon at our house!

So many people are upset by what’s happening in the world that I have been guided to help provide some tools to make it through this time of chaos.

On Monday, July 25 at 7:00 pm EDT join me for a channeling event where I will teach with The Divine Feminine what is going on and what we can do about things. These messages that are coming through these days are powerful guidance to help us navigate the 21st Century and its problems. The last message from The Divine Feminine was some great guidance on Abundance, Prosperity and Finances. The recording is available on my website.

Monday’s message will be timely and will help us to gain an empowering perspective. You can join us in person or from anywhere in the world. Get more info and register here: LINK

As a special bonus, on Sunday, July 24 at 7:00 pm EDT I will be offering a FREE Webinar! Getting Grounded in Ungrounded Times. During this hour together we will explore how you can use some simple tools to help you handle what you are feeling about world events and shake-ups happening in your own life. This is an opportunity for you to receive some information that will be immediately useful and the webinar will be content-rich. Come spend an hour with me and feel better about handling situations. You can register here: LINK

Let’s stay connected so I can help you to get through these tough times. You are precious. You are LIGHT. Shine your Light into the World so that you can make the place a little bit brighter.

A FRIDAY POEM FROM “RHYTHMS AND CYCLES” – Grandmother Moon (a reprise)

July 25, 2014 Leave a comment

It hasn’t been that long since I published this poem. But for you new followers, in case you missed it,  here it is again. And here we are again, sinking with the moon as she falls ever further behind in her race with the sun. I seem to be sensing the “death” of this particular moon, into the Leo sun, even more powerfully than usual. Maybe the Lion’s jaws are fierce and strong and Grandmother is falling toward them with more than her usual reluctance!

Do you feel the effects of the “old moon” a day or two before the new moon? Check in with your intuitive nature. The moon is there to support that feminine side of you!

Grandmother Moon

She is dying into the arms
Of the Father.
She is old and worn,
So close to his breast.

What will you give her
To offer the Father?
Her emptiness can hold all
You have to release.

Are your standards so fixed
To forgive and forget?
Let fly the high-horse
To Grandmother Moon.

Release your regrets
To her skinny white arms.
She’ll fold them and hold all
To burn with her heart.

In three days she’ll appear
Reborn and renewed.
Look to the west for the joy
Of her face and rejoice.

You too are new!

A FRIDAY POEM FROM “RHYTHMS AND CYCLES” – New Moon Goddess

June 27, 2014 Leave a comment

The moon is new today, Friday, June 27. She is exactly conjunct the Sun at 4:10 AM Eastern in the sign of Cancer. As my readers know I pay close attention to the moon cycles. Just after the New Moon, sometime today, I will cast an I Ching Gua to “read” the energies for the coming month using this ancient Chinese method of divination. I’ll post my results here on Monday.

Meanwhile here is a reworked poem from four years ago. Yes, I was celebrating New Moons back then too!

New Moon Goddess

New Moon Goddess is dark,
Casting no shadow.
She is gone now, licking
Bloodless wounds down under,

Her return, anticipated
But never quite certain.
Will she be there, two-days’
Peering through slit curtain?

Will she wink in the west,
Then slide out of sight
Still tempted to remain down,
Under, through the night?

Or, will she return, more robust,
Ever bright, casting lengthening
Shadows across two-weeks’
Passing until, as we trust

She stands once again
Opposed to the Father,
Glowing her fullest,
Casting love in the bargain?

A FRIDAY POEM FROM “RHYTHMS AND CYCLES” – A Hymn of Praise to Inanna

March 14, 2014 Leave a comment

Inanna is one of the first Goddesses of Human history. She was written about and hymns composed to her in cuneiform preserved for 5000 and more years in clay tablets. I’ve included this hymn I wrote in the Rhythms and Cycles series because she was among many things the Goddess of agriculture and the harvest. She also, much like several later goddesses, including Persephone, spent part of the year in the underworld. She embodied the natural rhythms of Mother Earth. So we praise her:

A Hymn of Praise to Inanna
March 2, 2010

Inanna, Queen of Heaven
We praise your name
Holding it high.
We honor you, Holy Inanna!

Inanna, Mother of Earth
We hold you in gratitude
Praising your grace.
We honor you, Holy Inanna!

Inanna, Goddess of Under
We bow to you in awe
Singing our grief.
We honor you, Holy Inanna!

Inanna, Holy One of All
We offer this song of praise
Lifting our voices high.
We honor you Holy Inanna!

A FRIDAY POEM FROM “RHYTHMS AND CYCLES” – And I found You

March 7, 2014 Leave a comment

Today’s poem is part of my Rhythms and Cycles collection; I wrote this one for Rosemary and my 25th wedding anniversary. But it speaks to much more than a simple relationship between two people. And I guess that’s probably true of our relationship: it’s anything but simple!

And I found You
July 23, 2008

Sun, Moon,
Earth, Sky,
Stars, Light,
Universes,
Extra-dimensionalities
And realities:
And I found you.

Beyond the beyond
We rest together
In Supreme Consciousness,
Then,
Now,
Always.

And Love
Of the Mother,
Divine Light,
Dwells in us
And radiates from us
For All
Who have hearts
To know us.

Survive or Thrive? – Richard’s Commentary

February 27, 2014 1 comment

The Divine Feminine challenge us in Rosemary’s article to make the key choice in this life: we can either scrabble for survival in what many think is a “dog-eat-dog world”; or we can step up and out to live our True Purpose, the reason the Universe supported our birth in this time and space, and thrive!

It really is that simple. And it really is a choice. Here’s how They put it through Rosemary:

Many people on Earth in 21st Century Societies are greedy for what they don’t have – riches, power, control, freedom, pride. These people are distracted from what is really important.

When one seeks to live one’s purpose, one finds that collaboration with others supports thriving in life.

There are the choices: survive or thrive.

Interestingly They do bring up karma, more as a threat than a factor in our choice. They say: Don’t think that you can thrive by pushing someone else to the brink of survival. Those who believe that this is acceptable will learn exactly what the rules of karma are. But doesn’t karma affect our choice, our purpose? Are people merely in survival mode because they have past “debts” to work through?

I am in the middle of asking this very question of myself, working through the process of purging karma, some from my younger days and likely a whole lot from past lives. I am practicing an intense “yoga” in preparation for Kalachakra Initiation, known asKalachakra Tantra Six Session Yoga composed by the First Panchen Lama. And things are coming up. Some days in the midst of practice I ask myself if I am making any progress, if all this is worth the effort. Can we really purge, burn up, karma? And, is this part of the choice we must make to turn mere survival into thriving?

When I ask the hard questions I am often blessed with answers. Today I received two “replies” to my deepest seeking. The first is from Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. He quotes his guru, Sri Yuktesvar: “Forget the past. The vanished lives of all men are dark with many shames. Human conduct is ever unreliable until man is anchored in the Divine. Everything in future will improve if you are making a spiritual effort now.”

My second answer came from my Goddess Cards, art by Susan Seddon Boulet and words by Michael Babcock. Today I drew Hathor, a Great Mother Goddess. And here is what Babcock says of her: “Hathor reminds us that we, too, must acknowledge all parts of ourselves, that what we call destructive is sometimes necessary to allow our creativity and compassion to flourish.”

Wow; thank you, Universe! Ask and you shall receive!

I have full permission to step into my purpose and thrive. I will most certainly continue the Six Session Yoga to see what comes up next.

And you, too, have the permission of the Universe, in fact the demand, that you step into your purpose and thrive! The choice is yours!

MONDAY’S POEM: Medusa

February 24, 2014 Leave a comment

This past Friday I started another Qigong class; I’m offering a morning class for those finding it difficult to make it to my Monday evening classes. I am enjoying these opportunities to share one of my loves, ancient Chinese wisdom, the Tao and Qigong. Today I mix up a bit of the East with the Greek to explore common understanding.

Medusa

Death to Life.
Composted negative energy
Through the death process
Creating positive energy.
Vital Life Force – Qi!

Medusa’s dark blood births
Pegasus, the Flying White Horse:
Instinct, wisdom, imagination,
Intuitive understanding – Vital Life Force.

Flying Wood Horse Year,
Pegasus rising from Water Serpent,
Medusa. Negative to positive, dark to light,
Death to Life.
